Dawn A. Lawless
Unashamedly passionate about accomplishing the mission call she received, Ms. Lawless has dedicated her career to strengthening the mental health in her community. A native Houstonian, and a lifetime member of the Pearland community, she has been blessed to serve as a social worker for over 21 years.
Her focus has always been to end child abuse, and in practice, she continues to counsel those affected by childhood sexual abuse. In an effort to educate other professionals on the dynamics and implications of sexual abuse, Ms. Lawless frequently travels to present this information at state conferences specifically geared toward prevention efforts. She believes, “It is a true honor to walk through the journey of healing with individuals and families who trust me with their most intimately painful experiences.”
Ms. Lawless is a co-founder and the current CEO of Counseling Connections for Change, Inc., a nonprofit Christian counseling center in Pearland. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Ms. Lawless has been named Social Worker of the Year by the NASW’s Gulf Coast Branch, and Mental Health Professional of the Year by NAMI Gulf Coast.
Ms. Lawless truly believes that regardless of the circumstances one comes from, the choices one has made, or the pain one has experienced, FREEDOM is possible when we remember that God’s plan for our lives is purposeful.
